If I join Phi Theta Kappa

do I actually have to do anything? because my school is giving out $100 bookstore gift certificates to people who join, and the membership is only $65, so I figure I could save $35 on books. However, I do not want to participate in any events or do anything other than signing up and getting my gift certificate.
